I’m still pretty stoked about my race yesterday and a lot of that was due to spending it with this guy (ExitRowIron). He’s the best cheering section, believer, and supporter around. He is an eternal optimist and encourages everyone he knows to give something new a try and pats them on the back when they give it a go. If you are looking for a mate, pick one that believes you can do anything before it even occurs to you to try.
When you do something you never thought you could, it makes you start to think that other things are possible. Three years ago today, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I’m so glad I had this guy on my team. He was my biggest cheering section and there is no challenge that he wouldn’t do his best to help me face.
Five weeks after bi-lateral mastectomies I ran a 5K, 4 months later I ran a half marathon, 9 months later I did my first half ironman, one year later I did a marathon, and two years later I did my first Ironman. Now I’m getting ready for Ironman #2 and whatever life brings after that. I don’t know what that will be, but as long as I have this guy, I know it will be an adventure.
